Today was 5-mile tempo day at lunch. I hate, I hate, I hate tempos. I’m horrible at them compared to people with my running background. A time that I could skip in a race (27:11) is like chinese water torture when I’m trying to even split it on a stretch of out and back pavement. That being said, I’m going to do it every week from now until my next big race on May 7th, which is unfortunately another 10 miler.
Someone, a coach who was watching but not running the workout no doubt, once said “the workout you least want to do is probably the one you most have to do.” And so it is. Stupid miserable tempos.
“Tempo is how fast or slow
the beat goes to your music!
Some are fast and some are slow–
it’s up to you to choose it!”
And art-tic-culation is a very fine thing.
Seriously, how brilliant was Mr. Hulick!? I feel like we’ve discussed this before, but honestly. He *wrote* an entire, original musical about the dynamics/elements of *music itself*… only to have it received with typical 3rd-5th grade sullenness and ennui. Remember how utterly dorky and painfully embarrassing it was at the time? And yet, looking back, the man is an absolute genius.
The “gift rap” wasnt too bad either
