Hawaii looks to have a higher than normal shot at a hurricane or strong tropical storm this coming Tuesday, as Hurricane Flossie plaques the Central Pacific. Yes, I did that on purpose.
Also, long term hurricane tracks are right up Doomsday Bastardi’s alley, and he’s championing an Atlantic hurricane to make a strike on the mainland US sometime on the week of the 19th. A vigorous tropical wave has recently left the African west coast. Though wind sheer is currently high, it’s forecast to subside. The main foe of Atlantic tropical development these last two years, the Saharan Air Layer (SAL), is not impacting the environs of this particular wave. Look for a depression to form within the next 72 hours, then let the hype begin.
Addendum:
Keep your eyes open about 12 days out for that Atlantic storm. It’s already an official National Hurricane Center invest, and it has nothing but undisturbed warm water in front of it.
Addendum 2:
Who else thinks Battlestar Galactica is the greatest series of all time? Everyone who knows stuff, that’s who. Well, almost everyone.
